If you think you can’t take easy guitar lessons without spending money, think again. Below are some really easy to follow steps to help you learn play guitar in no time.
Guitar Lesson #1: Holding the guitar
The guitar is usually played perched on the leg. Your dominant hand will be used for strumming, and the other hand will be used for holding the frets. Always make sure to keep the guitar straight and close to your body. It’s normal for the guitar to slide off your leg while playing, especially when you check how your fingers are holding the frets. While this is normal though, it’s not nice to practice it especially when you’re just starting to learn to play. So again, always remember to keep the guitar straight and close to your body.
Guitar Lesson #2: Knowing the chord chart
We will be focusing on the first four frets of the guitar for the three chords that we will be learning today. If you don’t know yet, frets are the spaces between each metal vertical line on the guitar. The six horizontal lines we usually see on diagrams represent the six strings found on a guitar. We will number your fingers 1 to 3, starting from the index finger.
Guitar Lesson #3: Getting to know the three basic chords
The D chord is the first chord that you need to learn. Position finger 1 and finger 2 on the second fret of the guitar. Place finger number 2 on the first string while finger number 1 should be on the third string. Meanwhile, finger number three should be placed on the second string of the third fret.
The E chord is one of the easiest chords to study, especially for beginners. We can do this by placing finger number 1 on the third string of the first fret. Have fingers 2 and 3 on the second fret with finger number 3 on the fourth string and finger 2 on the fifth string.
Another easy to learn chord is the chord A. There are a few ways to play this chord, but we’ll be teaching you the easiest way to do it. Place all three fingers on the second fret with finger number 3 on the second string, finger number 2 on the third string and finger number 1 on the fourth string.
Guitar Lesson #4: Easy guitar lessons on chord changing and strumming
The first three chords we taught you plus a little strumming should allow you to play a couple of tunes. Strumming is an important guitar skill. You can do it by moving your dominant hand up and down while striking the guitar strings. Move your hand in a steady pace, there’s no need to rush. Keep on practicing this until you have perfect strumming. You can start slowly and then build up your speed as you go along. You know you’re doing it right when you only hear the tone of the chords you’re playing, meaning there’s no buzzing sound included. When it comes to changing chords, you need to master the basic chords first. You can then set the beat, and then change to a different chord before moving on to the next beat. You can practice strumming and changing chords more effectively by playing your favorite song with a slow beat.
Following these easy guitar lessons would help you play like a pro in no time! Enjoy learning and playing!
