I studied with Freddy Gruber for years- he came up with this series of exercises. He would have me practice them at about half the speed that Steve played them. Slow- with no muscular tension.

Bravoooo… es la mejor explicacion que e visto sobre tecnica de doble pedal, ademas de mostrar muy bien la postura con una muy buena toma y de una forma tan simple, Steve Smith es uno de los mejores baterista que han existido en la historia.

I did a shoot for Hammerax cymbals at DrumChannel (which is located in DW’s warehouse) and I think (although I’m not positive) I played on the 0/500 pedal. It was signed underneath by Steve and someone else (can’t make out the signature in the pic I took).

It is a DW 9000 Limited Edition Titanium double pedal. Only 500 of the doubles and 500 of the singles were made.

Steve Smith was their beta tester and played for a long time with 0/500. When he approved it, DW took the prototype back and issued 1/500 to him.

I have 4/500 and got Steve Smith to autograph it.

It’s an incredible pedal. Love it.

xdoseonexSeptember 6th, 2011 at 11:35 pm

that actually may be a DW 9000 titanium
