RE: Urban bass techniques groove

Late night browsing and ran across this video of Ivan and Jamal from the urban bass techniques sneak preview with the nastiest groove. www.youtube.com PS. yes the keyboard is transposed but I’m allowed to because bass is my main instrument. Check clause B section 5 of the gospel musicians handbook. ;)

Hey brotha… Very Nice groove. Bass sounds awesome… Do you think I can borrow that first progression from you?

jayaaron1November 28th, 2011 at 1:15 am

Bro, the way you play shows that you’re a gift from God. Keep up the good work man.

hahabassNovember 28th, 2011 at 1:15 am

Yes rudeboy. More please!

ZobiLaCheumNovember 28th, 2011 at 2:11 am

Very creative!
I love the way urban music pull down the beat.
English is not my mother tongue so I’m not sure about the “pull down” expression but you got the idea.
I don’t know if they are related but it reminds me the way reggae bass player play. Am I wrong?

yo is that the Terrence Vaughn movement you were usin in 3:40 to 3:46? lol sounds nice!

clintoniousNovember 28th, 2011 at 4:19 am

do you think my warwick could get close to that tone if I put smith pickups in it? I put EMG’s in it and it’s not even close to the sound I want. If it’s just because of the bass or my technique then I need to figure it out
