Play More Chords
Usually you pick or strum chords on an acoustic. You don’t just play power chords all the time. It can help you get used to chord changes and playing different picking and strumming patterns. Bringing these techniques and chords back to the electric when you play rock guitar can add more to your skills and your repertoire.
Getting Sounds on an Acoustic Guitar

If you can make different moods and sounds on an acoustic you can do anything on an electric to make the same sounds. Strumming fast on an acoustic can give the same energy and heaviness that a distorted electric guitar can.
